Quickstart

This guide walks you through setting up ChatAgent from sign-up to live conversations.

Before you start, you’ll need:

  • A WhatsApp Business API number — ChatAgent requires the WhatsApp Business Platform (cloud API). If you’re using the free WhatsApp Business app, you’ll need to upgrade. Learn more about the API →
  • A ChatAgent account — Sign up free at app.chatagent.so
  • Your product catalog — Product names, descriptions, prices, and images (CSV or manual entry)
  1. Go to app.chatagent.so/signup and create your account
  2. Navigate to Settings → WhatsApp in the dashboard
  3. Click Connect WhatsApp Number
  4. Follow the prompts to link your WhatsApp Business API number via the Meta Business Platform
  5. Verify the connection — you’ll see a green “Connected” status when it’s live
  1. Go to Catalog in the dashboard
  2. Choose your import method:
    • Shopify / Tokopedia / Shopee — Connect your store and auto-sync products
    • CSV upload — Upload a spreadsheet with product data
    • Manual entry — Add products one by one
  3. Review the imported products and fix any issues
  4. Set categories, tags, and availability

Once imported, your AI agents will use this catalog to answer product questions and make recommendations.

Go to AI Settings → Auto-Reply and configure:

  • Greeting message — What customers see when they first message you
  • Business hours — When the AI responds vs. when it hands off to a human
  • Response rules — Topics the AI handles (pricing, shipping, returns) and topics that route to a human
  • Tone of voice — Formal, casual, friendly — match your brand

Go to AI Settings → Repeat Orders and configure:

  • Reorder timing — How many days after purchase to send a reminder
  • Message templates — What the reminders say
  • Product associations — Which products trigger reminders (e.g., consumables)
  1. Use the Test Chat feature in the dashboard to simulate conversations
  2. Check that the AI responds correctly to common questions
  3. Verify the catalog sync is working (product links, prices, images)
  4. Switch the connection from sandbox to live
  5. Start monitoring conversations in the shared inbox

Once live, your AI agents handle incoming conversations automatically:

  • New messages get instant AI responses
  • Customers can browse products and place orders in chat
  • Past customers receive reorder reminders on schedule
  • Your team picks up conversations that need a human touch — all context preserved in the shared inbox
